Nuclear Ribosomal Internal Transcribed Spacer
Draft Sequin Input Template

Sequin is the standard means of processing sequence data for input to GenBank  More information about Sequin, its use, and its idiosyncracies will be supplied in the future on this site.

From this page you can download a text file (extension ".fasta") that is a draft template that the Roosevelt group supporting this site is using for submitting nrITS sequences to GenBank, as part of our role in the North American Mycoflora Project.  We are delighted to announce that GenBank has accepted this site for their LinkOut program and that they will permit us a format to that sequences in GenBank can reference all taxon pages of the present site, but also link both to the homepage of www.amanitaceae.org and to specific taxon pages.  This now creates a complete loop from a taxon page to a sequence page on GenBank and back to our taxon page.

Download the 14 August 2014 version of the template here.  Note: This version of the template includes a workaround for a Sequin bug that fails to recognize when a sequence is from one of several bacterial cloned sequences from a single collection that are submitted Sequin in a single FASTA file.

Donwload a paritally completed version of the template for the WPMC nrITS sequencing project here.  Some instructions to help with use of this template are included and must be removed before the file is input to Sequin.

Warning: Do not add "carriage return" or "enter" or "line feed" characters to this file to make it easier to edit.  The only such character permitted is the one immediately preceding the character string representing the sequence being submitted.

The template has been worked out with the collaboration of Dr. Karen Hughes (Univ. of Tennessee, Knoxville), Dr. Benjamin Wolfe (Harvard Univ., Cambridge), Nhu Nguyen (Univ. of California, Berkeley), Dr. Conrad Schoch (NIH), and administrative/editorial staff at GenBank.
